The clear coat is still sticky, but I could see how they would look when put on.

Go full Canada and add a maple leaf to the hood.

Why does everyone in Canada have snow tires that look like the tires from a beat up 2000 Toyota Corolla? Like, are hubcaps and alloys not sold with them? You did a good job of painting yours, but I’m just talking about what I’ve seen.

Hubcaps are just going to crack and fall off anyway, and since the wheels are probably going to get beat to shit, most people just buy steel wheels for cheap . And normally people downsize their wheels when they go to winters. Like me, going from 17 inches to 15 inches with black steelies.

Looks hot. I’m thinking about painting the steelies for my wife Fit’s snows. I want to do purple tho.

nice - I like that.  Pops nice, super functional looking but not like you just lost all 4 of your plastic wheel covers.  Those are 16"s?

The only time I’ve seen winter tires in person was a Tiguan with Ontario plates, covered in salt, back at Christmastime. They’re a unique concept to me; I only knew they were winter tires because there weren’t hubcaps, and I gathered that conclusion from looking at Oppo. You can’t just take your car to Kauffman (or similar) and have them put on the tires for you, using your regular rims? I’m sorry; I didn’t even know winter tires were a unique thing until I joined Oppo.

Well, as mentioned most people run a different size, so narrower rims won’t work, as well as the fact that repeatedly swapping tires on rims can damage the tire’s sidewall and increase the chance of leaking. As well, with all the salt, sand, and grime, there’s less of a concern about damaging $200 in rims versus  $600 fancy ones.

Thank you for letting me know. Is this a common thing, as I see lots of AWD badges in northern areas; I thought people hoped for the best with their AWD, and driving was easier because plows were out all the time. I know y’all change tires all the time because y’all care about the cars, but I’m asking about the general public. I’ve never been to Canada, or north of a Philly suburb, for that matter.

Hahahahaha plowing. Oh that’s a good one. Depending where you live, you might not see plows for a few weeks, or the streets just become permanent snow and ice. I live in a rural area, so I won’t see plows soon after a snowfall. Saskatoon was absolutely miserable at plowing, too.

From my past experience selling tires and just knowing people , most people generally swap over to winter rated tires, because not everyone has AWD, and AWD only really helps with going, not stopping. In Quebec it’s actually required by law from Mid-December until March, I think, to have winter or all-season tires. They’re really a necessity in a lot of the country.

I thought most tires were All-Season, though, save for the sporty cars that come with summer tires. However, my tires are all-season I’m pretty certain, and the one time I drove in snow did NOT end well. I just assumed y’all had good service for the streets up there, as a little bit of snow ruins everything down here.

Some provinces have insurance discounts if you have winter tires, and they are mandatory in Quebec. All-seasons are not allowed during the winter months, it must have the Alpine Snowflake mark.
